Mission, Vision, and Values

Kootenai Health's core commitment is to provide quality healthcare to all people despite their ability to pay. By upholding our Service Excellence Standards, including privacy, etiquette, professional attitude and courtesy, sensitivity to customer wait time and communication, Kootenai Health's goal is to treat you as a member of our family.

Our Mission: Kootenai Health exists to meet the health-care needs of North Idaho through service excellence, community leadership and compassionate care.

Our Values: Teamwork, Integrity, Quality and Community.

Our Vision: The community will seek out and trust Kootenai Health to meet the clinical, spiritual, emotional and informational needs of the healing process. People will work and practice in a collegial ethical environment that empowers the promotion and restoration of health. We will be good stewards in equitably allocating resources in the best interest of the community.

Community: Kootenai Health is committed to meeting the health care needs of our community both in and outside our facilities. Free and low-cost health screenings, free child car seat safety inspections, and strong volunteer support of local events are just the beginning of that commitment.

As a community-owned district hospital, Kootenai Medical Center is entitled to collect taxes from the local community. Thanks to wise management and careful financial planning, Kootenai has not collected taxes since 1995. Additionally, investments back into our local community average two and a half times the amount that would have been assessed in tax dollars.

A Heart for Excellence: At Kootenai Health, excellence is at the heart of all we do. Kootenai has been recognized both regionally and nationally for providing outstanding care in a variety of arenas. Visit our Recognition, Awards and Honors page for a look at Kootenai's recent awards.
