Our Mission and History

The mission of the DeArmond Consumer Health Library is to ensure that every citizen of North Idaho has access to the resources they need to make informed choices about their health care.

The DeArmond Consumer Health Library opened in 1996, through a generous donation from Richard and Jackie DeArmond. Support from the Kootenai Medical Center Foundation was also instrumental in its inception. Library services had been available to the physicians and employees of Kootenai Health since the mid-1980's. But with the advent of the DeArmond Consumer Health Library, the citizens of Kootenai county and beyond were provided with a locally accessible, highly valuable resource for accessing health information.

Donations to the DeArmond Consumer Health Library are tax-deductible.
