Kootenai honored as one of nation's Best Places to Work in Healthcare
Modern Healthcare magazine has named Kootenai Health as one of the nation's Best Places to Work in Healthcare. A list of winners and their rankings will appear in a special supplement to the magazine's Oct. 26 issue.
"We're delighted to receive this prestigious honor," said Dan Klocko, Kootenai's vice president of human resources. "Kootenai believes in creating a workplace that supports and recognizes staff. Because of our dedicated employees, patients here receive the outstanding care they deserve and expect from Kootenai."
Modern Healthcare conducted the program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level. The magazine teamed up with Best Companies Group, a Pennsylvania-based firm that administers "best places to work" programs nationwide.
The program collected information from both employers and segments of their staff. Participation was open to all health-care companies, from providers to suppliers and associations with at least 25 employees.
Employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Meanwhile, employees were asked in an anonymous survey an in-depth set of questions in eight core areas: Leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.
Kootenai was recognized for such things as:
- Financial stability and re-investing in growth and medical technology
- Desirable salary and benefit packages
- A full spectrum of employee reward, recognition and retention programs
- Workplace health and wellness initiatives
- Internal and external training and educational opportunities
- Using a range of media to communicate with staff, patients and the public
- Positive employee/supervisor relationships
- Strong and caring leadership.
Kootenai will receive its Best Places to Work award at an Oct. 27 conference hosted by Modern Healthcare in Chicago.
